Sol de Janeiro’s popularity may have boomed thanks to its beloved Brazilian Bum Bum Cream (sales grew 199% in the last nine months of 2023!), but the brand’s entire line of tropical-scented, targeted products have taken off, too. Celebrities like Hailey Bieber, Hilary Duff and Selena Gomez have all raved about Sol de Janeiro, and stars such as Anitta, Barbie Ferreira and Sofia Richie Grainge each partnered with the beauty brand; Richie Grainge most recently for Sol de Janeiro’s summer 2024 campaign that saw it launch a line of sunscreen products.
The TikTok-favorite Bum Bum Cream retails for $48, and its Cheirosa perfume mists start at $24 for a 90 mL bottle – not exactly premium prices, but they fall among the higher end for Sol de Janeiro’s competitors. Sol de Janeiro lovers have noticed that they can get comparable products for nearly half the cost at Bath & Body Works. Since spending less money means more funds for more beauty products, we figured we’d give these Sol de Janeiro dupes at Bath & Body Works a try.
What Is Sol de Janeiro?
Sol de Janeiro is a U.S.-based beauty brand that sustainably sources ingredients from around the world to create body care, hair care, sun care and fragrance products without parabens and phthalates. The cult beauty brand — named after the Sun of January, when the sun hits its highest point during Brazilian summers — features size-inclusive models in its ads and on its pages, and its products appeal to a wide consumer base thanks to its inviting scents and solution-focused offerings.
For example, the hit Brazilian Bum Bum Cream promises to smooth and tighten the skin, to help prevent environmental damage to skin and to deliver maximum hydration. Similarly, the Beija Flor Elasti-Cream aims to boost collagen and give users “resilient, velvety-soft, youth-kissed skin,” while the Bom Dia Bright Cream brightens and retexturizes skin.
Sol de Janeiro backs up its claims with transparent info about how its products performed in clinical tests to give customers a clear expectation about what they can expect from their purchase. The brand, which aims to give customers the feeling of peak summer all year long wherever they may be, also prioritizes sustainability. Sol de Janeiro is Animal Test-Free PETA Certified and maintains a 100% cruelty-free product assortment, and its products don’t contain any microplastics, mineral oil or sulfates. The brand intends for all of its plastic packaging to be reused, recycled and recoverable and offers product refills to help reduce plastic use.
Best Sol de Janeiro Dupes at Bath & Body Works
Social media users realized that Bath & Body Works’ summer collection released in May 2024 featured scents quite similar to some of Sol de Janeiro’s most popular fragrances. Here’s the dupes they’ve been loving. Oh, and by the way, these are all on sale!
67% Off – Pink Paradise Fine Fragrance Mist
Pink Paradise combines pink dragonfruit, wild hibiscus and blush moss in an attempt to capture how it feels to watch a sunset on a tropical island. This one has been likened to Sol de Janeiro’s Cheirosa 68 Beija Flor perfume mist, which also has notes of pink dragonfruit and hibiscus, as well as lychee essence, Brazilian jasmine, ocean air, sheer vanilla and sun musk. One TikToker called Pink Paradise an “exact dupe” for Cheirosa 68, and YouTuber Connor Loves Candles deemed Pink Paradise one of their favorite Bath & Body Works scents of all time. Bath & Body Works also offers Pink Paradise in a body wash and a diamond shimmer mist.
67% Off – Vacation Vibe Fine Fragrance Mist
This mist went viral on TikTok for its indulgent combination of whipped pistachio, sundrenched jasmine and praline amber, similar to Sol de Janeiro’s Cheirosa 62 Brazilian Crush perfume mist that features notes of pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla. One Bath & Body Works shopper commented that they actually like Vacation Vibe more than Cheirosa 62, but noted that they “mix the two products together when I’m layering” mists. Vacation Vibe also comes in a body wash.
67% Off – Solar Shine Fine Fragrance Mist
Bath & Body Works’ Solar Shine combines radiant coconut, sunlit tuberose and bronzed tonka and has been compared to Sol de Janeiro’s Rio Radiance perfume mist that contains solar tuberose, leite de coco and creamy vanilla notes. One TikToker found Solar Shine a bit sweeter than Rio Radiance, but another found them “SUPER similar.” Solar Shine is available in a body wash as well.
Buy 2, Get 1 FREE – Gingham Goregous Fine Fragrance Mist
Although not part of Bath & Body Works’ summer 2024 collection that serves as nearly perfect dupes for multiple Sol de Janeiro fragrances, Gingham Gorgeous and its blend of pink strawberries, peach nectar and peony blooms has also been called a dupe for Cheirosa 68. As one of Bath & Body Works’ core scents available year round, Gingham Goregous is available in a full line of body care products including body lotion, body wash and body cream.
Buy 2, Get 1 FREE – Into the Night Fine Fragrance Mist
Bath & Body Works’ Into the Night may be a bit muskier than Cheirosa 68, but some have been using it as a dupe for the Sol de Janeiro scent — everyone’s nose is different after all! Into the Night contains notes of raspberry noir, amber crystals, velvety rose petals, creamy patchouli and mocha musk to smell like what Bath & Body Works describes as “a timeless, brilliant, alluring night on the town.” If you want to add a little shine to your life, Into the Night also comes in a diamond shimmer mist, along with a complete range of body care items.
