These two ingredients come together to form a dough that can be shaped and baked into fresh, soft bagels without the need for yeast or long rising times. In the past, we’ve shared a similar recipe that used Greek yogurt as the key ingredient to make quick bagels.

These bagels are not only a fun baking project, but they also offer a protein-packed alternative to your typical bagel recipe. Let’s see how these viral cottage cheese bagels turn out!

Cottage Cheese Bagels

Preheat the oven to 375 and prep a baking sheet pan with parchment paper.

Blend the cottage cheese in a blender or use a hand blender.

Add the cottage cheese, flour, baking powder, and salt to a mixing bowl. Mix until a dough forms. It may be a bit be shaggy and sticky but will still work. Shape it into a ball.

Divide the ball into 4 parts. Roll each onto a skinny snake shape, form into a circle, and connect the ends. Place on the sheet pan.

Add the egg wash over the top of each bagel with a kitchen brush. Sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning or toppings of choice. Bake for about 25 minutes until puffy and browned.

  • Use self-rising flour instead of all-purpose flour and eliminate the need for baking powder and salt in this recipe!
  • Store leftovers in a covered container at room temperature for about 3-4 days or longer in the freezer.
