While it’s true that inflation rates have been falling, Americans are still grappling with high prices. Groceries, especially, still seem to cost more than they should.
Happily, Target is about to rectify that, or at least move in the right direction. The retailer has just announced price cuts on thousands of items throughout its stores—and that means groceries, too.
If you’re a regular Target shopper, you may have noticed that the store actually started cutting prices back in May. It’s lowered costs on over 8,000 items since then.
Target Reducing Prices on +2,000 Items This Holiday Season
This week, Target announced that it would reduce costs on more than 2,000 additional items in the weeks heading into the holidays. The move is aimed at helping customers prepare for holiday gatherings—with cheaper food and drinks, discounts on gifts and lower prices on festive decor.
“We know families are excited to celebrate the holidays, so Target is committed to helping them find joy without compromise—with great products at even lower prices,” said Rick Gomez, Target’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer. Among the items you’ll pay less for are snacks, frozen vegetables, cookies, ice cream, toilet paper, cold medicine, toys, beauty products and towels.
Walmart’s Price Cutting, Too
And Target’s not the only big box store cutting prices. In August, Walmart released an announcement that it’s making thousands of its products more affordable, too. It’s been slashing prices on more than 7,000 grocery items as part of its “rollback” deals. Walmart has also been lowering costs on groceries by offering an affordable, private store brand, Bettergoods (which it launched in April).
Holiday Essentials to Find for Less at Target
With friends and relatives in the coming weeks, you might need to stock up on grocery items like coffee and creamer or pie-making ingredients. At Target, you’ll now pay 5% less for Coffee-Mate Natural Bliss Sweet Cream Creamer and Crisco Vegetable Oil.
Target also has some popular gift products on sale. At most of its stores—in cities like Phoenix, Dallas, Detroit and Atlanta—you will see lower prices on thousands of items. Here are three highlights:
LEGO Technic 2022 Ford GT Car Model Set
With this LEGO set for adults, you can assemble an authentic-looking model car with a working V6 engine, front-axle steering, headlight details, and a hood and doors that open and close.
Bluey Fire Truck
Bluey fans can pretend to put out fires using this toy truck, two figures (Bluey and Bingo), a retractable hose and a removable ladder.
Magic Bullet Personal Blender Set
This compact machine is both a blender and a food processor, so you (or your gift recipient) can whip up smoothies, salsa, dips and soups.
