If you loved using the Shopkick app, this news is super sad.
For years, Shopkick has been one of our favorite reliable apps our team both used and promoted to get cash back on purchases. But yesterday, Shopkick appears to have shut down entirely and without any warning. Users discovered that both the app and website stopped working at the same time, with no prior announcement or explanation.
Sadly, it appears employees were reportedly just as blindsided and it seems that staff learned about the shutdown at nearly the same time as the public.
The most immediate concern for users is simple: What happens to my unredeemed kicks?
With the platform offline, it seems that any accumulated rewards are gone for good. However, if you already redeemed a gift card and saved the code, it should still work.
This is a good reminder that any cash back app could disappear at any time—and when they do, your points might disappear with them. We suggest to always cash out early and cash out often when using any cash back app.
If you’re using apps like Fetch, Ibotta, or similar platforms, this might be a good moment to log in and hit “redeem.” Unfortunately, even the most familiar apps don’t always give you a heads-up before they disappear.
