Turns out making healthy coffee creamer is EASY and smart! ☕️

Do you enjoy sweetened flavored coffee creamer in your hot or iced coffee?! Here’s a great way to switch up your routine and make it yourself without artificial additives and preservatives. You can control the sugar content and even customize  the type of cream or milk according to your nutritional needs.

These examples are not on the overly-sweet side, but if you like very sweet creamer just add your sweatener of choice to taste!

mixing cream and maple syrup to make diy coffee creamer

There are countless ways to make coffee creamer, but this is my favorite method!

I start by heating half-and-half with maple syrup as a sweetener and then add extracts or spices for flavor. Once the mixture has cooled, I’ll transfer it to a glass jar or container using a mini funnel, and store it in the fridge. I love this simple method because it lets me avoid the hydrogenated oils often found in store-bought creamers.

You can also use these to flavor oatmeal or in chia seed pudding. YUM!

Today I am sharing a vanilla bean flavor, sugar cookie, and spiced chai coffee creamer recipe. They all have the same base of half and half plus maple syrup and then various extracts and spices to flavor.

Like my coffee creamer containers? My grocery store sells milk products from a local dairy in glass containers, so I simply poured my creamer back into them. I did find these nice glass pint jars on Amazon that look similar!

Curious about the creamer labels? I use my handy Bluetooth label maker from Amazon! I love it and use it so often for making fast labels.

Make yummy homemade coffee creamer at home using maple syrup and half and half!

Ingredients

Vanilla bean coffee creamer:

Sugar cookie coffee creamer:

  • 2 cups half and half
  • 4 tablespoons real maple syrup (or sweetener of choice)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Chai coffee creamer:

Directions

1

For each flavor, combine all the ingredients in a small pot on the stove.

2

Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir occasionally. Allow the mixture to come to a simmer, not a full boil. Stir until the sweetener has fully dissolved and the cream is smooth.

3

Once it's simmering, reduce the heat to low. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. You’ll notice the creamer thickening slightly as it simmers.

4

Let the creamer cool to room temperature before transferring it to a jar or bottle. You can store it in the fridge for up to a week using a jar or bottle with a lid. Enjoy in your iced or hot coffee!

Additional tips for making this homemade coffee creamer recipe:

  • If you are after a sweeter coffee creamer consider using sweetened condensed milk instead of maple syrup or brown sugar to taste.
  • For sugar-free consider using a sugar substitute like monk fruit! if I am not using maple syrup, my go-to is a good monk fruit blend like Lankanto.
  • Instead of the half and half, you could combine 1 cup milk and one cup heavy whipping cream together.
  • Instead of dairy, you could substitute almond milk or coconut milk for a dairy-free version.
  • Homemade coffee creamer will typically stay good in the fridge for up to a week. Be sure to shake it well before pouring.
  • if you are curious about my handy mini jar funnel, you can find them on Amazon!

You will be shocked at how the sugar cookie flavor does taste like a sugar cookie by using almond extract and salt! I think this is my current favorite.

The chai flavor tastes so warm and comforting too. Using vanilla paste for the classic vanilla flavor creamer is delclious Honestly, this is so fun to try making different flavors!
