KAYAK Now Shows Southwest Airlines Fares
After Google Flights, Southwest Airlines is now sharing fares with another online travel agency. As of Monday, August 5th, KAYAK displays flights and fares from Southwest Airlines.
Southwest is the second largest domestic airline in the US, flying more than 136 billion revenue passenger miles during the past 12 months. But the airline traditionally didn’t share fares on travel websites.
That changed earlier this year with Google Flights and now Kayak. These developments are part of a broader shift for the airline, which is also making significant changes to its business model that has been in place for decades.
KAYAK users can already see Southwest fares integrated within normal flight results. They can easily compare fare attributes like ticket refunds, travel credit transferability, same-day changes, checked bags, flexible seating and more.
When it comes to booking, customer will still need to transfer to Southwest’s own website or mobile experience to complete a transaction.
“This is a great development for travelers,” said Steve Hafner, KAYAK CEO, in s statement. “We first started showing Southwest in 2022 to KAYAK for Business customers. We’re thrilled to expand that relationship to the millions of leisure travelers who use KAYAK.”
