If you aren’t already totally and ridiculously obsessed enough with Amazon, I will give you another reason to take that obsession up a notch: You can get a lot of stuff for free on Amazon. And the freebies won’t make you say “meh” either.
The free stuff includes digital music, podcasts, apps, books and movies, free samples and photo storage. I mean, who can say no to a free Duran Duran album, true crime novel or the newest horror movie? Not me! These are some of the best ways to make sure you’re getting the most out of your Amazon Prime membership:
Amazon Prime Membership Freebies
1. Amazon Prime Music
Amazon has free albums, podcasts and MP3 singles available and ad-free. Amazon Prime members have free access to 2 million songs on demand through Prime Music. For a bit more ($9.99 a month, to be exact), you can upgrade to Amazon Music Unlimited and have over 100 million songs to groove to. But before you officially decide to sign up, get a free 30-day trial first.
Amazon Music Unlimited subscription benefits: On-demand music, ad-free, Ad-free podcasts, Listen offline with unlimited skips, upgraded HD and spacial audio
2. Amazon Prime Reading
If you’re like me and coast through a handful of books a month on your Kindle, this is a need-to-know fact: Amazon has free e-books, comics and magazines. Some are always free (over 1,000), and others are limited-time deals. Browse the Top 100 Free e-books or sort them by category — options change every hour.
3. Free Amazon Prime Movies
Amazon Prime members (or those who get in on the 30-day free trial) can stream over 40,000 free movies and TV shows via Prime Video and IMDb TV. Amazon adds new titles each month. Right now, you can enjoy “The Boys,” “The Twilight Saga,” “The Outer Range” and lots more, including other Amazon Originals. Prime members also get exclusive Thursday Night Football included.
New in 2024, Prime Video will now include ads. If you don’t want your viewing experience disrupted, you must pay $2.99 monthly for ad-free movies and TV shows.
Limited-time deal: Amazon Prime Video offers a free 7-day trial for many popular channel subscriptions including Paramount+, Discovery+, AMC+, MGM+, STARZ, Discovery+, Crunchyroll, Britbox and more. Just be sure to cancel if you don’t want to continue the paid subscription.
4. Amazon Free Shipping
Even without a Prime membership, you’re still eligible for free shipping on qualifying orders of $35 or more. Amazon Prime members get free one-day or same-day shipping on items (no minimum) with the Prime logo — look for it while you shop.
5. Amazon Student Membership
College students get a whole slew of benefits with a Prime Student membership, including free food delivery from Grubhub+, free shipping, photo storage, streaming TV, movies, music, gaming, student-exclusive deals and discounts. Prime Student is available to all young adults aged 18-24. To qualify you can either verify with confirmation of your age or you can verify with your student status.
As a Prime Student member, you get a six-month free trial (up from three months) and then pay $7.49 (decreased from $8.99) a month, so you’ll have time to determine whether you want to continue with a paid membership.
6. Amazon Photo Storage
Amazon Photos offers free storage for Prime members and non-Prime members alike. Everybody gets 5GB of photo storage for free, and Prime members get unlimited full-resolution photo storage and 5 GB for video for free. In addition to being a great (free) way to back up your photos, Amazon Photos allows you to order prints and photo gifts straight from Amazon easily — and you can easily cycle your photos on your Echo Show screen. It also offers group-sharing features.
7. Pay With Amazon Points
If you’re an Amazon addict like us, you might want to steer your credit card rewards toward purchases on Amazon. You can redeem credit card points from various cards, like Amazon.com, Rewards Visa Card, Citi ThankYou Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, Cashback Bonus from Discover and Chase Ultimate Rewards, right on Amazon.
To use your points, select “points” as a payment method when you check out. If you only want to use points to cover a portion of your order, you can even specify that. However, Kindle downloads, AmazonFresh, Subscribe and Save, and preorders aren’t eligible for point usage.
8. Free App Downloads at Amazon

If you want to sign up for Amazon Wardrobe, you’ll receive a free 30-day trial.

Shopping Tips for Getting More Free Stuff on Amazon
Shop Amazon Prime Day
Amazon has a well-established history of offering freebies during and leading up to its famous Prime Day. The trend continued for 2024 with loads of limited-time freebies and savings for Prime members. You can also enlist Alexa to help you find deals – in fact, Alexa can notify you up to 24 hours in advance of a deal becoming available on items you’ve saved to a Wish List, Cart or Save for Later. You can also shop Prime Day deals easily with the Amazon app. With generous extended free trial offers this year, Prime Day is a great time to try Audible, Amazon Music Unlimited and Kindle Unlimited.
Qualify as an Amazon Vine Voice
If you’re invited to be a Vine Voice member, Amazon considers you one of the most trusted reviewers because of your product reviews and how they’ve helped other customers make informed purchase decisions. As a member, Amazon offers free products that have been submitted to the program by participating selling partners. Products are provided by publishers, labels, studios, manufacturers or any selling partner participating in the program.
Claim Free Product Offers
Amazon is host to plenty of seller promotions that offer free products with qualifying purchases. You’ll have to ensure you have either checked the box on the product page with the offer or applied the code when you’re ready to check out. The offers are available while supplies last.
Join the Amazon Shopper Panel
The voluntary Amazon Shopper Panel is available by invitation only, but you can also join the waitlist after downloading the app. It’s a chance to earn monthly rewards by sharing receipts from purchases you’ve made outside of Amazon and by completing short surveys. You’ll upload 10 eligible monthly receipts to earn $10 toward an Amazon balance or a charitable donation. You’ll likely have to join the waitlist, but will be notified by email when there’s space.
