Directions

1

Dip half of the package of cookies into a little milk and line the bottom of a 9x9 pan.

2

Mix together the pudding and the 1 3/4 cups milk. Let set for a minute or two. Add in the peanut butter, softened cream cheese, and powdered sugar. Use a hand mixer to combine ingredients until smooth. Fold in 1/2 of the whipped topping.

3

Top the first layer of cookies with half of the filling. Spread evenly. Dunk the 2nd half of the cookies into milk and add them to the top. Spread the 2nd half of the filling, followed by the remaining whipped topping.

4

Sprinkle Reese's candy pieces and peanut butter baking chips onto the top. Refridgerate for about two hours to set. Serve cold.

More tips for making Nutter Butter ice box cake:

  • Be sure to allow a couple of hours for this cake to set up nicely in the fridge. You can make it a day ahead of time. Consider holding back the Reese’s pieces on top until serving, as they tend to bleed a bit overnight.
  • Dunking the cookies helps them soften up right away so it’s more like a cake in the short 2 hour time-frame. If you are making this a day ahead you can probably skip that step.
  • This cake also freezes well in a covered pan. Let it set on the counter for a bit to defrost in order to make it easier to cut into before serving.
  • Can you use whipped cream instead? Yes, you can sub in about 3 cups of whipping cream instead of the Cool Whip.
  • I used a 9Ă—9 baking dish to make this. You could double the recipe and use a larger 9Ă—13 casserole dish.
