I’ve Traveled to 50+ Countries in Three Years – This Is the Only Carry-On Bag Use

If I’ve learned anything as a digital nomad, it’s that your carry-on bag can make or break your travel experience. Throughout the years, I’ve tested out dozens of rolling carry-on spinners and oversized tote bags in my pursuit of finding the best carry-on bag. At one point, I even invested more than two thousand dollars on a Louis Vuitton backpack for my travels. None of those, however, compared to the comfort, size and versatility of the Lululemon New Crew Backpack.

The Lululemon New Crew Backpack has made my on-the-go lifestyle even more streamlined. It’s the only carry-on I’d ever bring on a trip abroad, and it has also become my go-to bag for other activities, including language class and the gym. Here’s all the reasons why I love the backpack, and why it should be your go-to carry-on bag as well:

Why Lululemon’s New Crew Backpack Is the Best Carry-On Backpack

It’s water-resistant and stain-proof

I am extremely low-maintenance and lead a pretty adventurous lifestyle, so having a carry-on that can keep up with my day to day is important to me. The New Crew Backpack is made from a water-repellent nylon material, which means I don’t have to worry about my possessions being damaged when I inevitably get stuck walking in snow or rain. The nylon is also stain-proof. I’ve admittedly spilled coffee on my backpack multiple times, but all I’ve had to do to remove spills is basic spot treatment with soap and water, and voila, no stains have been left behind.

There’s A LOT of space inside

The backpack technically has a 22-liter capacity, but I feel like it can fit so much more thanks to its flexible nylon material, dedicated storage compartments, and large zippered opening in the main compartment. It’s so spacious that I actually use the backpack as a substitute to traditional luggage for shorter trips.

Inside, I can easily fit multiple pairs of pants, tops and even a jacket or two. I also tend to travel with a laptop, a tablet, a notebook, a Kindle and at least one to two books. The generously sized laptop sleeve makes it easy to reach in and grab all my electronics in one swoop, which prevents me from having to dig around the backpack, or worse, unpack it while going through airport security. What’s more, the sleeve is padded, so I know that my tech essentials will be safe even if my backpack gets tossed around while I’m commuting or putting my carry-on into the overhead.

Very convenient features

In addition to a great laptop sleeve, the Lululemon also has a trolley sleeve and TWO water bottle pockets, both of which have been game changers for me while en route. What makes the water bottle pockets so special is that they come with adjustable traps, which is a feature that certainly isn’t standard for backpacks. These adjustable straps make it easy to carry and secure water bottles and coffee tumblers of varying sizes. I have a very skinny water bottle that I can easily secure into the side pocket when I’m traveling, but the pocket also extends to fit my somewhat chunky-sized Yeti coffee traveler when I’m going to my language class.

Meanwhile, the bag’s trolley sleeve slides with the utmost ease onto my luggage, which gives my back a much-needed break while I’m waiting to check in to a hotel or trying to get a taxi with luggage in tow.

It’s functional and fashionable

As I’ve traveled more, I’ve started to value convenience and longevity over style when it comes to travel accessories, but that’s not to say that I want to go full utilitarian when I’m buying new gear. I love that this backpack is stylish, but not flashy or trendy enough to draw unwanted attention, which is actually helpful in keeping myself and my belongings safe while traveling abroad. The bag comes in neutral colors as well as fun options including two shades of pink, a soothing lavender shade and a rich navy hue.
