DoorDash Will Pick Up Your Packages

For those of us who don’t relish the idea of adding sending packages to our list of errands, we have some exciting news: DoorDash has a service that makes takes it off your to-do list. Called Package Pickup, the much-loved delivery app is now allowing customers to schedule a DoorDash worker to come to their door, pick up packages to send and bring them to the right shipping service. Talk about convenience!

To use the perk, all customers have to do is box up their packages (max of five per pickup), prepay for the shipping cost and simply attach the prepaid shipping label to the packages. Plus, if you don’t have a printer, just show your DoorDasher a shipping QR code when they arrive for pickup. Packages just need to be under 30 lbs each and worth less $500.

You can easily set up the service via the DoorDash app (for iPhone or Android) and an available Dasher will arrive at your door at a scheduled time. You can schedule ahead or pick ASAP pickup times for same day pickup. They’ll pick up the packages you’d like to send and bring them directly to a store – FedEx, UPS, USPS or the specified shipping service you’d like to use. The Dasher will send you photo confirmation of your package at the shipping service you chose but DoorDash does not provide tracking numbers.

In addition to sending packages, the Package Pickup service can be used to return unwanted holiday gifts without having to trek to the nearest shipping store. Easy-peasy!

How Much Does DoorDash’s Package Pickup Cost?

Great question! The service is surprisingly very affordable. DoorDash is charging customers a flat fee of $5 – or $3 for DashPass members – per pickup. DoorDash has run specials on the Package Pickup service, so keep an eye out for DoorDash deals and discounts.

What’s DashPass?

DashPass is DoorDash’s loyalty program that gives customers major perks. These include $0 delivery fees, lower service fees on orders over the minimum subtotal, 5% DoorDash credits back on pickup orders and members-only exclusive offers and items. Plan options will cost you $9.99/month or $96/year. They also offer student plans for half the price!

Can I Have DoorDash Pickup from My Home or Work?

You can have packages picked up from the address you select, from your home, work, or if you’re visiting a friend. When you log into DoorDash with your computer or smartphone, like when using the service to deliver food or groceries, all you need to do is set the pickup address and that is where they will come to pick up your packages.
