It’s also a great time to get some incredible deals on snacks, meals, and drinks, whether you are active military, a retired veteran, or just someone who can’t resist a good deal (especially when it’s delicious).

Are Restaurants Open on Memorial Day?
Yes. Almost all restaurants stay open on Memorial Day, and most keep their normal business hours. Yes, it’s a holiday. But restaurants know that people are out and about between parties and making road trips. So, not only do they stay open, but they often offer special deals as well.
Can Military Get Free Food On Memorial Day?
Some restaurants do offer food freebies for military. However, it’s far more likely you’ll find discounted meals, rather than completely free ones.
Which Restaurants Have Memorial Day Deals?
Many major chains offer Memorial Day weekend specials. There’s also a lot of overlap between Memorial Day deals, general summer promotions and National Burger Day deals (May 28). In particular, pay close attention to fast food restaurants and restaurants that offer summery treats (like ice cream and cold drinks). Memorial Day is the official gateway to summer, so restaurants like to grab consumers’ attention with deals on refreshing splurges.
Keep in mind that, these days, we’ve seen a lot of freebies placed behind a bit of red tape — for example, you may need to download the restaurant’s app or join its rewards program to get the deal.
