6 New Snacks That Won’t Totally Bust Your New Year’s Health Goals

17 hours ago 7

It’s that time again — when we set new resolutions for the year ahead, and swear we’ll work out more and eat healthier. Fortunately, brands are making it a teeny bit easier to achieve our goals with some new snacks suited for every kind of healthy eating resolution out there.

While food fads come and go, recent trends have steered towards some pretty sound advice, like boosting protein and fiber in our daily diets. And when legacy brands like Kellogg’s and PepsiCo jump on board with a food “trend,” you know it must be something big! So when you want to eat a little healthier in 2026 (but you still need to have your snacks), there’s an increasing number of options when it comes to better-for-you comfort foods.

Whether you’re trying to avoid added sugars or dairy, or you’re hoping to amp up your protein intake, there’s a little something to fit your resolutions this year. So let’s jump into the new products and flavors that have just launched to help bring a little joy to your snack time while you chase those goals.

6 Better-For-You Snacks That Won’t Bust Your New Year’s Resolutions

Protein Pop-Tarts

Step aside, protein bars — there’s a new protein-packed sweet treat in town. Pop-Tarts launched a limited-edition line of protein-boosted toaster pastries nationwide in November, jumping on the buzzy trend of protein snacks like Khloe Kardashian’s Khloud Popcorn. With 10 grams of protein for two pastries, they’re probably not going to put a huge dent in your daily protein goals, but every little bit counts, right?

Compared to the original Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts, the Protein Boostin’ Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts have the same calories with slightly less fat and sodium, but double the protein in a two-pastry serving. However, it’s worth noting that both have 30 grams of added sugar and nearly 70 carbs — so a health food it is not! But if you’re going to indulge in a Pop Tart anyway, you might as well try one with more protein.

So far, there are three flavors to try: Protein Boostin’ Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts, Protein Bumpin’ Blueberry Pop-Tarts and Protein Slammin’ Strawberry Pop-Tarts. You can get them at your local grocery store or retailers like Walmart and Target.

At $3.99 for eight Pop-Tarts, they’re a bargain compared to competitor Magic Spoon and Legendary Foods‘ protein-boosted toaster pastries. That said, the more expensive brands have way less sugar and carbs (and actually add a ton of fiber) so they do offer more nutrition if you’re looking to splurge.

JUNKLESS Protein Bars

Okay, I know I just told protein bars to step aside, but this decadent entry can’t be missed. Most protein bars are paraded around as the holy grail of healthiness when they’re really just a candy bar in disguise — but this new flavor of Junkless Protein bars is almost the complete opposite. It looks like a candy bar and is named like one too: Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownie, yum! But they pack 15 grams of protein and 8 grams of fiber alongside just 2 grams of sugar and zero sugar alcohols. There are also no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, and they’re gluten-free, too. Not too shabby for a peanut butter-coated bar filled with real crunchy peanuts and a brownie-style center.

You can shop directly from the Junkless website or via their store page on Amazon.

Simply NKD Doritos and Cheetos

If you’re concerned about artificial additives in your food, PepsiCo has launched some stripped-down versions of your favorite crunchy snacks. The Simply NKD line hit store shelves in December, including Doritos and Cheetos made without artificial coloring and flavoring. They pack the same big, bold taste and craveable crunch that we all love, but they just look a little more plain — naked and au naturel, if you will.

PepsiCo says the whole idea came to life in just eight weeks, from concept to completion. (Just goes to show how easy it can be to nix additives!) Some flavors even have less sodium than their original counterparts.

So far, you can snag Simply NKD Nacho Cheese Doritos, Simply NKD Cool Ranch Doritos, Simply NKD Cheetos Puffs and Simply NKD Crunchy Flamin’ Hot Cheetos at Walmart, though additional retailers are slated to join throughout 2026.

But don’t worry — the originals aren’t going anywhere, so you can still indulge yourself in neon-orange Cheeto dust fingers, if you wish!

Lay’s Baked Chips

If you want to ditch the artificial flavors and colors with a chip that’s also lower in fat, Lay’s has you covered.

Lay’s Baked potato chips have been around for a while now, offering all the tastiness with 50% less fat than standard chips. Made with olive oil, they’ve covered all the bases of your favorite flavors like Barbecue, Salt & Vinegar and Cheddar & Sour Cream. But this January, Lay’s dropped two new mouthwatering flavors for savory snackers to enjoy: Loaded Baked Potato and Roasted Garlic & Herbs. Need I say more?

You can find them at grocery stores and retailers like Target.

Zero Sugar Oreos

Fresh to hit the shelves this January, Oreo has launched a zero-sugar version of its iconic chocolate-and-creme sandwich cookies. They claim to offer the same taste of the original without any natural or added sugars. Instead, the sweetness comes from sucralose, a.k.a. Splenda — an artificial sweetener made from sugar. Reviewers confirm the cookies have the same crunchy texture, sweet and creamy middle, and a great taste that’s “surprisingly close” to the original.

Even better for those watching their sweets intake, the zero-sugar Oreos come pre-portioned in packets of two cookies. Not only will you feel less tempted to down the whole package in a couple sittings (guilty!), it’ll also prevent you from any digestive upset that can be caused by eating too much sucralose.

You can order Zero Sugar Oreos directly from Oreo’s website or on Amazon now. You can also expect to see them at Walmart, Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh in the coming months — in both original and Double Stuf formats.

Oat Milk Slices

No need to give up those dessert-like lattes you love in 2026 — they just need a little tweak. Whether your tummy is not on good terms with lactose or you’re just looking for a lower-calorie and lower-fat substitute for cow’s milk, oat milk is a nice and creamy alternative with a natural sweetness. It foams pretty nicely for all your at-home barista needs, too!

But if you don’t consume that much milk (or “milk”) on the regular, and often find yourself dumping half the container down the drain weeks past its expiration, Milkadamia’s Oat Milk Sheets may be the perfect solution for you.

No, these “milk” slices are not sliced cheese; they’re 2D-printed sheets of shelf-stable oat milk concentrate that you mix with water to create just one cup of oat milk at a time. You can use it in coffee, cereal, oatmeal, baked goods, or to dunk your zero-sugar Oreos — the possibilities are endless! You get 20 slices in a pack so you can make a total of 160 ounces of oat milk as infrequently as you want without worrying about it going bad. And not only does it cut down on food waste, but it reduces 94% of packaging waste too.

Originally announced in the summer of 2024, Oat Milk Slices are finally ready to purchase this January at Whole Foods, local grocery stores, specialty health markets or directly from the Milkadamia website. Look out for almond and soy milk slices later this year, too.
