Top Strategy Board Games
1. Pandemic
This is such a fun, cooperative game! You work as a team, utilizing each characters’ strengths — win as a team or lose as a team.
2. Forbidden Island
This cooperative game is a little less complex than Pandemic, yet still so much fun! It’s one that our family goes back to again and again.
3. Carcassonne
This is a fun little tile placing game that has quick game play. You can usually play an entire game in about 30 minutes. This was one of our first strategy games after Catan and we love it!
4. Splendor
This is another really fun and quick strategy game that plays in under 30 minutes. This is one we take while camping since it doesn’t take up a lot of space and doesn’t take hours to play.
5. Othello
“A minute to learn…a lifetime to master!” The tagline describes it perfectly. It takes just a second to teach someone the basic premise of this game, but there’s a lot more to this game than meets the eye. If you know someone who loves strategy games like Chess where you need to be thinking rounds ahead of time, this is perfect for them.
6. Azul
This is beautiful and unique game! It’s our go-to game when we have a weekend away since it plays well with two people. It is one of our favorites!
7. Labyrinth
This is a great strategy game to play with kids or as a family. It’s super simple to learn and involves pretty basic strategy. It’s one of my kids’ favorites and one they play together even with their nine-year age spread.
Favorite Party Board Games
8. LRC Left Right Center Dice Game
This is a fast paced dice game is perfect for a variety of ages. The rules are so simple and you can add a bit of fun by passing candy instead of chips! This is one of our best family game night ideas!
9. Code Names
This is a unique game, because it’s definitely a really social game but also requires a lot of thought and word creativity. It’s great to play with just 4 people, but you can play with up to 8-10 people! (You can technically play with more than that, but it gets kind of crazy.)
10. Farkle
This is another fun one that can pretty much be player with as many people as you have. If you have more than 10 people, you can play in teams! It’s kind of like Yahtzee with a twist (but WAY more fun).
11. Doomlings
Love card games with strategy mixed in? It’s quick to play with a great mix of strategy and chaos. The rules are constantly changing, making it fun every time you play! And the illustrations are so vibrant and colorful!

This is a fun, quick card game to bring out with family and friends and always involves SO MUCH laughter!

This is our go-to game when we want to get our teenagers to join us during game night! Hidden codes, a secret word, and trying to track down the chameleon in the bunch!
14. Pass the Pandas
This is a fun, unique dice game! One thing I love the most is that it was easily playable for my daughter with special needs and a group of friends with various abilities. Add multiple sets together to play with even more friends!

This card game is perfect for Catan lovers, because unlike regular Catan, it can be played as a two-player game!
16. Dutch Blitz
This is SUCH a fun card game! It’s fast-paced, competitive, and sure to get just about anyone who loves games hooked immediately.
17. Collapsible Board Game Bowls
This is an unique gift for board game lovers and will make your own game nights so much more enjoyable! I can’t tell you how often I pull little bowls out of the kitchen cabinet to use for game pieces when playing complex strategy games! These would be so convenient to have, and they’re easy to store since they’re collapsible!

Know someone who loves Scrabble? This is a fun, fast-paced twist! And it travels well. I take this on a lot of vacations to play with friends and family!
